Tennessee Department of Health State Office of Rural Health

The Tennessee Department of Health’s State Office of Rural Health was created in 1993 to improve and enhance the accessibility, availability, and affordability of quality health care in Tennessee by creating a central focus and coordination of rural health care resources.

Rural Health Association of Tennessee

The association has the vision for every rural community to have the resources and support needed to achieve health and prosperity. Members include rural hospitals, clinics, mental and behavioral health providers, school health professionals, and many others who are committed to advancing positive health outcomes in rural communities.

Tennessee Public Health Association

The association’s mission is to protect, promote and improve the health and prosperity of people in Tennessee by advancing health policy and practice, increasing awareness about public health issues, and providing education and professional development for public health professionals.

Tennessee Hospital Association

This is the website for the Tennessee Hospital Association’s Small and Rural constituency, which is focused on the 65 acute-care, small and rural hospitals in the state, including 15 certified critical access hospitals. THA is responsible for developing rural programs, initiatives, and other support services for Tennessee’s small and rural hospitals to improve their clinical, financial and operational performance.

Tennessee Charitable Care Network

The network supports, educates, and represents non-profit organizations that provide charitable health care services to low-income, uninsured, and underserved Tennesseans.​​

Tennessee Primary Care Association

The association serves as the collective voice of the state’s community health centers. They represent 29 of Tennessee’s community health centers and empower members with shared resources, amplify their interests at the state and federal levels, and foster a collaborative atmosphere.

Center for Rural Health and Research

The Center is housed in the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health and works to improve health and well-being at the community, state, regional and national levels. Located in the heart of Appalachia, the Center fulfills its mission by engaging rural communities to advance health and improve quality of life through innovative solutions that contribute to the expanding evidence base of what works in rural America.
